TVS bikes in India
For the introduction, TVS marked itself as the first Indian factory team to participate in the Dakar Rally in 2015. It is one of the most dangerous rallies in the world. TVS collaborated with the French bike manufacturer Sherco. They then named their team Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team.
However, apart from that, the Indian bike manufacturer collaborated with BMW’s motorcycle division, BMW Motorrad.
Both the companies signed an agreement to produce sub-500cc bikes in India and export units to the global market.
Apart from that, TVS is also catering to buyers who are on a budget. So, below are a few affordable as well as entry-level performance bikes.
1) TVS Ronin:
The recently launched Scrambler motorcycle has a 226cc oil-cooled engine with an output of 20.1bhp at 7750rpm and 19.93Nm of torque at 3750rpm. The TVS Ronnin comes with a five-speed manual gearbox. The TVS Ronin’s mileage (ARAI-claimed) is 45kmpl. For more information on the rideability of this newly launched bike, check out the TVS Ronin review.
As for safety features, it comes with disc brakes (front and rear), two ABS modes (rain and road), a slipper clutch, and Glide Through Technology.
The 2022 TVS Ronin’s price starts at Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base model, the Ronin SS-Single Channel ABS. And it goes up to Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top model, the Ronin TD-Dual Channel ABS.
In India, its direct rival is the Honda CB350 RS.
2) TVS Sport:
This commuting bike is the most affordable among other TVS bikes in India. Despite having the lowest price, it is also one of the most fuel-efficient bikes on the market. The TVS Sport specifications include a 109.7cc air-cooled engine that produces 8.1bhp and 8.7Nm of torque, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Less power means more mileage, and TVS Sport strictly follows that since its ARAI-claimed mileage is 95kmpl!
The TVS Sport’s price starts at Rs 63,950 for the Kick Start variant and goes up to Rs 67,443 for the Self Start variant. All prices are ex-showroom in Delhi as of July 2022.
3) TVS Apache RTR 160 2V:
The Apache RTR 160 was their first race machine in the Apache series, which debuted in 2007. In those days, it was also the first bike to feature a petal disc brake in its class. Besides that, the TVS Apache RTR 160 has a 160cc air-cooled engine that produces 15.1bhp and 13.9Nm of peak torque, paired with a five-speed manual. The ARAI-claimed mileage of the TVS Apache RTR 160 is 50kmpl.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 2V’s price is Rs 1.13 lakh for the drum brake variant, while the disc brake variant’s asking price is Rs 1.16 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi, as of July 2022.
4) TVS Apache RTR 160 4V:
The suffix “4V” stands for the fourth version. It is a relatively new model compared to the RTR 160 2V. The RTR 160 has a new 160cc with a 4-valve head, capable of producing 16.1bhp and 14.8Nm of torque. It comes with a five-speed manual gearbox.
However, the mileage of this bike is good but not the best since its ARAI-claimed figure is 30kmpl.
It also has a good braking system since it gets a 270mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake.
Moreover, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V has four variants on offer. The drum brake variant price is Rs 1.21 lakh, while the disc brake is Rs 1.23 lakh. And the BT Disc’s price is Rs 1.26 lakh, while the Special Edition variant’s price is Rs 1.27 lakh.
5) TVS Zeppelin:
The concept version of the Zeppelin came to everyone’s attention in 2018. It looks promising and seems to be one of the best upcoming TVS bikes that will enter the Indian market later. The concept version of the Zeppelin had a 220cc engine with an output of 20bhp and 18.5Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. However, the production-ready model might be slightly different from the concept version.
Once launched, the TVS Zeppelin will lock horns with a few models of Royal Enfield, Jawa, and Yezdi, to name a few.
6) TVS Apache RR310:
This bike is TVS’s flagship offering. It is a fully faired bike with a 310cc engine displacement. It is a racing machine at heart, with a 312cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine capable of producing 33bhp and 27.3Nm of peak torque. The RR310 comes with a six-speed manual transmission.
The ARAI-claimed mileage of the TVS Apache RR310 is 31kmpl.
On the safety front, it gets ABS as standard. For braking, on the other hand, it gets 300mm and 240mm disc brakes at the front and rear, respectively.
Moreover, there is only one variant available for the TVS Apache RR310. The TVS Apache RR310’s ex-showroom price in Delhi is Rs 2.65 lakh as of July 2022.
