Her father was a truck driver, and her mother was a homemaker. As a child, Jennifer enjoyed singing and acting. In junior high school, she was inspired by a teacher to pursue a career in teaching. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Texas at Austin, earning a bachelor’s degree in education. She then earned a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Houston.
Jennifer began her teaching career in the Houston area. She taught in the public school system for 10 years before moving to San Antonio in 2000. She taught at a private Catholic school in San Antonio for five years. She became a stay-at-home mom when her husband, Richard, was diagnosed with cancer. After he passed away in 2007, Jennifer returned to teaching. She currently teaches at a public elementary school.
